Shannon R. Glau
Shannon was born and raised in Prescott, Arizona, and is a third generation Prescottonian. After graduating from Prescott High School, Shannon went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Arizona. Following her undergraduate studies, Shannon enrolled in the James E. Rogers School of Law in Tucson, Arizona. Shannon spent her summers in law school interning with the Washington State Attorney General's Office in Yakima, Washington and participating in a study abroad program in Greece.
After graduating from law school in 2001, Shannon joined the law firm of Belt & Associates in Casa Grande, Arizona. As an associate attorney with that law firm, Shannon practiced in the areas of adult felony and misdemeanor matters, juvenile criminal matters, guardianships and family law matters. Shannon also routinely served as the Best Interest Attorney for children in highly contentious family law matters. In 2003, Shannon became a founding partner with the Law Offices of Soslowsky & Glau, PLC. As a partner with that law firm, Shannon handled many complex felony cases, including homicides, violent crime offenses and multi-defendant drug trafficking cases. Shannon also served the firm as a family law lawyer, and routinely represented individuals dealing with complex family law matters, including highly contested divorce and child custody cases, parental termination actions, and child support issues. Shannon also regularly handled misdemeanor domestic violence cases and DUI cases in all of the lower courts in Pinal County. In 2011, Shannon joined the Pinal County Public Defender's Office as a principal attorney. As a trial attorney with the Pinal County Public Defender's Office, Shannon had the opportunity to focus her practice in the area of felony criminal defense, and work on the front lines of the criminal justice system. As a criminal defense attorney, Shannon routinely handled felony matters through all stages of the criminal process.
In addition to her law practice, Shannon made it a point to give back to the local community. Shannon served as a past President of the Pinal County Bar Association, a board member with AACJ, a Mock Trial coach with a local high school in Casa Grande and as a volunteer lawyer with the Volunteer Lawyer Program. Shannon also served as a member of the Pinal County Domestic Relations Forms Committee, and assisted in drafting and updating current family law forms designed for pro se litigants.
Shannon has earned a reputation as a reliable, hard-working, experienced attorney who fights for her clients at every stage of the legal process. Shannon has recently expanded her practice to the Yavapai County area, and maintains a local office in Prescott, Arizona. In addition to her law practice, Shannon is an avid traveler and enjoys spending time with her family and two daughters exploring the world.
Mercede A. Goates
Mercede earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Arizona. Following her undergraduate studies, Mercede spent time in Taiwan and Chile as an English teacher. Upon returning to the United States, Mercede enrolled in the University of San Diego School of Law and graduated in 2005. While in law school, Mercede participated in an immigration law clinic and held a prestigious internship with the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice.
After graduating from law school, Mercede moved to Arizona and began working with the Law Offices of Soslowsky & Glau, P.L.C., located in Casa Grande, Arizona. While an associate attorney with that law firm, Mercede primarily practiced in the areas of juvenile law, adult criminal defense, immigration law and guardianship law. Mercede was regularly appointed as a Best Interest Attorney in highly contentious dissolution and custody matters. Ms. Goates is fluent in the Spanish language, and particularly enjoys working with clients who primarily speak the Spanish language.
In 2009, Mercede joined the Pinal County Attorney's Office as a prosecutor in their juvenile division. As a prosecutor, Mercede handled a multitude of different juvenile cases, including drug cases, theft cases, violent crimes and sex crimes. Mercede has extensive experience in the court system, having handled hundreds of misdemeanor and felony juvenile cases.
Mercede joined The Law Office of Shannon R. Glau, P.L.C. as a part-time attorney in 2013. Mercede handles adult felony and misdemeanor cases, juvenile cases, guardianship cases, and immigration cases.
Mercede is a past Vice President of the Pinal County Bar Association, and enjoys doing volunteer work both locally and internationally. Mercede has continued her passion for international travel by taking her children on trips around the world, and encouraging her daughters to participate in volunteer programs.
